Insurance Law Institute

The Insurance Law Institute was founded in 2006. It is part of the Düsseldorf Law School. The Institute is led by the two professors at the Law Faculty, Dirk Looschelders and Lothar Michael.

The Institute’s task is to pursue research and provide instruction in private and regulatory insurance law as well as to foster the exchange between academia and practice in these areas. The Institute has received support from leading Düsseldorf-area insurance firms and the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft, a private foundation which sponsors innovative research and cooperation between academia and private industry. These generous sponsors have enabled the Institute to significantly broaden its range of activities.
